Over recent years there has been much confusion about certainly one of Belle Isle's many institutions: the Casino. this is not a gambling casino, but rather uses the existing sense of the saying, a place for "public entertainments." This Casino has been used for this function since the original structure was internal the 1880s, serving as a gathering spot for Detroiters for generations.
The first building being called the Casino was internal 1887, as Belle Isle was being changed into a municipal park. It was constructed to carry events, bazaars, and things of that nature, which its successor was created to do also. The original building burnt down noisy . 1900s.
The original building was replaced in 1907 with a building created by the firm of Van Leyen and Schilling. This building has continued for everyone its function successfully for approximately 10 years now, and its future seems to become secure well in to the future, inspite of the problems that Belle Isle has received in recent years.
